Because Allen, like large parts of Texas, has a deregulated energy market, your electricity will be generated and transmitted by a utility that is assigned based on your area, but you must choose a retail energy provider (REP). The rate you pay depends on where you live, determined by how much it costs to produce electricity, delivery fees from your utility, and the energy market. We offer fixed rate plans that bill you the same monthly rate for 12, 24, or 36 months, as well as variable rate plans that change monthly based on the wholesale cost of energy.
Some of our plans do require a deposit, which can be paid online during plan sign-up or by calling 1-888-7RHYTHM. The deposit must be satisfied before an enrollment can be confirmed or electricity service started. Deposits will be fully reimbursed after 12 consecutive on-time payments, with interest at the rate approved by the Public Utility Commission of Texas. Based on their credit profile, some customers may qualify for the Deposit Alternative Program.
Rhythm Energy offers same-day electricity connection, enabling fast and easy services for our customers.

Diversifying the sources of power that Allenians use into more renewable energy sources is an important step in stabilizing the grid. An area that relies heavily on natural gas for power generation (like Allen) can be subject to gas shortages and volatile prices on the market. By diversifying into a greater number of renewable sources like Rhythm Energy uses, particularly in larger cities, the state may be able to help avoid future blackouts. To learn more about the grid and what measures are being taken to stabilize the grid, read our article on the Texas Power Grid.
At Rhythm Energy, we don't charge our customers any hidden fees (including minimum usage fees).
